I normally wear a size 14 and am 5'2" and the 1x was just about right in size and length. As long as you're aware of the anomalous sizing to begin with (and of the fact that the bust on this dress is quite small), it's fine...the shape is flattering and it's very comfortable. I'm going to order the blue as well.
Yes, order 2-3 sizes up. I got a 1x my measurements are bust40, waist30, hips36 inches and it fit very nicely except for the chest, but you can pull the dress up over your breasts a little to make it seem like the chest fits better. I wish the tiers started a little higher up, for me the area between my belly button and hips isn't washboard thin so this dress kind of emphasizes that area. Otherwise it came early and is a very pretty dress.
